Uncovering of Venus in Macedonia
It is amazing what is still in the ground - archaeologists in Macedonia have uncovered a very intact Roman statue of Venus. It is dated to the 2-3 Centuries AD and was found in the ruins of Skupi, near Macedonia’s capital city. A lot of Roman statuary were (very good) copies of Greek originals - in most cases the Roman copy is the only way we know the Greek ones existed. This might be the case with this one.
