Novelist

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kirstie @ 4:30 pm

Novelist is a database purchased by the State Library of W.A.  Any member of a W.A. public library can access Novelist.  Go to the databases page, then select Novelist (second last one on the list), and enter the barcode number from your library card. Voila, you’re in.  You can search for all sorts of fiction books here. I really like the Author Read-alikes. Search for an author, then select the ‘Author read-alike’ link at the bottom of one of their books. This will take to a short and interesting analysis of their work, overarching themes etc and suggest other authors who have similar elements you might enjoy.  The information on this database is authoritative and the bibliographies are complete and consistent - something which is difficult to achieve on social user-created sites.
